Dr. Blurton obtained her medical degree from Wake Forest University. Prior to completing her Nuclear Medicine residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, Dr. Blurton trained in Radiation Oncology at Wake Forest University giving her unique insights into cancer treatment as well as care for patients with cancer. Dr. Blurton also completed a one-year Imaging fellowship in PET/CT at Wake Forest University. Her clinical interests include prostate cancer imaging and treatment with endoradiotherapy (Xofigo, Pluvicto), PET/CT imaging of genitourinary malignancies, lung cancer imaging, and nuclear oncology.
Dr. Blurton grew up in Chatham, Virginia, and completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia prior to her medical training. She moved back to Charlottesville in 2010 where she previously served as an Assistant Professor of Radiology and Medical Imaging for the UVA School of Medicine and most recently as the Medical Director of Nuclear Medicine/PET and Theranostics at Augusta Health in Fishersville, Virginia. In her spare time, she enjoys adventure travel, live music, golf, reading good books, UVA athletic events, and spending time with her extended family and two daughters.
Dr. Blurton is excited to be a part of the Virginia Urology team. She has been appointed the Medical Director of PET/CT Imaging and Theranostics. She will be seeing patients at the Stony Point office location.
