Dr. Meghana Gowda joins Virginia Urology as our first female urogynecologist and one of the few in the region to have completed an accredited, 3-year combined fellowship program in Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Gowda has been trained in clinical and surgical options for women with pelvic floor disorders and brings this expertise to the Urogynecology practice of Virginia Urology.
Dr. Gowda pursued her undergraduate pre-medical studies at Virginia Commonwealth University. She was awarded her medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia where she served as President of the Medical Student Government. Following her time in Richmond, she completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at New York University and Bellevue Hospital. Dr. Gowda then completed her fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Her clinical interests include female urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, fecal incontinence, minimally invasive techniques, and complicated childbirth injuries.
Dr. Gowda is thrilled to return to Richmond, Virginia – a place she has always considered home. She is an active member of the Museum District Women’s Club and a fan of the VCU Rams. In her spare time, she loves to travel and spend time with her family and friends. She enjoys the outdoors with Bella, her rescued lab mix from the Metro Humane Association.
